EVOLIS: PLANS FOR EXTERNAL GROWTH IN ACCESSORIES WITH THE ACQUISITION OF SOGEDEX'S ASSETS

Angers, 8th December 2011 – Evolis, the European leader in plastic card customisation printers today announces its plans to acquire the assets of Sogedex Distribution, as part of its strategy to expand its accessories business.

 

Strategic expansion into identification accessories

Evolis has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of the Sogedex company specialised in identification accessories and supplies distribution. The project is subject to the usual contingent clauses and should be finalised on 13th December 2011, for consolidation in Evolis' accounts from 1st January 2012 onwards.
Sogedex (www.sogedex.com) is the French leader in the production and distribution of personal and property identification accessories and supplies. Active in the identification markets, with a primary focus on the security and public events segments, Sogedex markets its ranges in France, Europe and Africa, mainly to large groups, governmental and para-governmental organisations and local authorities, as well as via a reseller network.

 

This business is closely linked to badges and cards

For Evolis, the individual and property identification accessories sector offers major opportunities in terms of both markets and products. This business is closely linked to badges and cards (badge holders, card cases, lanyards…), is also complementary to Evolis' existing products and markets, and offers numerous commercial synergies. This business is going to represent turnover of around €3m in 2011 and its acquisition forms a perfect fit with Evolis' development strategy.
In this way, Evolis aims to speed up the international development of Sogedex's scope of business, which is currently concentrated in France and Francophone Africa, by benefiting from the leverage offered by the current Evolis European network. At the same time, Evolis will ensure that this business' profitability is raised to the same standards as that of the group as a whole.
