Evolis: an extensive range of solutions for card personalization to serve the needs of advanced and creative applications

Cartes 2008, France, November 2008. Evolis, the European leader in plastic card personalization systems, will be showcasing its personalization solutions in five different advanced and original applications.

Visitor Management, Banking, Loyalty, Education and Transportation: 5 core areas where Evolis leads.

Visitor Management will benefit from strong visibility during the Cartes Trade Show, in the entrance area.
Once again, colorful and translucent Evolis Pebble printers will play a key role in welcoming visitors to Cartes 2008. For the fifth year in a row, the organizers of the Cartes Trade Show have selected Evolis to personalize the contactless badges for the 20,000+ visitors that are expected to attend this leading event of the industry.

At the Evolis booth (3G031), four other applications will show the Evolis expertise in instant issuing of personalized cards.

  • Banking: Evolis will showcase a decentralized solution for payment cards and mobile phone personalization. As of today, Evolis has equipped more that 10,000 bank local branches with Dualys or Pebble printers to deliver new or replacement payment cards over the counter.
  • Loyalty: Evolis has market-proven expertise in the loyalty card landscape. Evolis will showcase theTattoo Rewrite, a printer that encodes and prints a single card up to 500 times. This solution is ideal for promoting and customizing special offers in a dynamic way.
  • Education: Student IDs are often used for access control purposes, as electronic wallets, for transportation or even PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) applications. Dualys from Evolis enables full card personalization and several educational organizations worldwide have already adopted this solution.
  • Transportation: Evolis is already a benchmark for public transportation systems as multiple operators have selected Evolis for issuing e-tickets or transportation passes, in a centralized or decentralized way (over the counter) : the Navigo pass in France, passes for the Brussels transportation network as well as fare tickets and passes for the City of Bucharest public transportation system (Romania).

Evolis meets all card personalization requirements

Evolis has a solution for every requirement in plastic card personalization. The latest addition to the Evolis offering, Tattoo2 has already been adopted by a host of small and medium organizations (SMEs, sport clubs, associations, libraries, retail stores and government bodies) to deliver cards in color or monochrome, as simply as possible. Tattoo2 delivers instant personalization of membership cards, singly or in small runs, as well as visitor/employee badges, library cards, and many more.

The single or dual-sided color printers Pebble and Dualys, flagship products from Evolis, provide multiple encoding options: MAG ISO or JIS2 magnetic tracks, contact or contactless/RFID smart cards. These encoding options make it possible to personalize multi-feature cards in a single pass for advanced applications such as biometric security, banking cards, driver’s licences or ID cards.

For applications that require a premium level of security, Evolis offers Securion, a personalization and lamination solution that quickly delivers laminated badges with tamper-proof security. Dual-sided personalization of cards in volume is also available with the Evolis Quantum, a semi-industrial printer that comes with two 500-card feeders to operate autonomously.

Strategic partnerships make Evolis solutions even more powerful.

  • Mediasoft will provide a sneak preview of its card design software eMedia-Cards CS to Evolis partners and users. This software, available early 2009, provides new features to design cards with even more appealing effects such as shadowed text or transparency on pictures. eMedia’s new GUI makes it even simpler to integrate and personalize all graphic items of a card design layout (text, logo, pictures and even barcodes). eMedia will be shipped in its standard version, and can be upgraded to Professional or Expert versions to benefit from advanced features such as a link to enterprise-grade databases (Oracle, Microsoft™ SQL Server, Microsoft™ Access and ODBC databases)
  • The United States will be the Nation of Honor during Cartes 2008. The perfect opportunity for Evolis to promote its partnership with US-based Jolly Technologies, a software vendor specializing in solutions for access control and visitor management.
  • Evolis will also announce the availability of the new SpringCard Crazy Writer contactless encoder for all Evolis card printers. Crazy Writer is a customizable and simple encoder that enables for several industries: transportation, loyalty, visitor management, student IDs, etc. This versatile encoder streamlines project developments, lowers operating costs over time and offers future-proof solutions.
