For several months, Evolis has been conducting tests and certification requests issued by leading institutions to ensure food compatibility of its ribbons and its printed plastic cards. We recently announced new test results on food compatibility of our products. However, this communication contained a misleading formulation.

Printed cards are food contact compatible.

The following printed cards from Evolis have passed the tests with TÜV ensuring compliance with the European regulation (EC) No 1935/2004:

  • White printing on black cards (REF C8001 black cards & ref RTC015NAA)
  • KO printing on white cards (ref C4001 & ref R2F010NAA)

In addition, the following printed cards from Evolis have passed the tests with TÜV ensuring compliance with US regulations Chapter 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (FDA):

  • White printing on black cards (REF C8001 black cards & ref RTC015NAA)
  • Black printing on white cards (ref C4001 & RCT023NAA)
  • Color printing YMCKO on white cards (ref C & RSF008xxx 4001)

However, tests conducted by TÜV on printed cards have not resulted in a certification in the strict sense of the term used by the German body. TÜV has emitted a positive test report but not a certificate.

Although the results of these tests confirm that our printed cards are compatible for contact with food, we cannot communicate on the term "certification" or use the TÜV logo.

Any reference to this certification has been removed from all our marketing tools and communication material (brochures, website, event communication material, etc.).

Evolis is more than ever committed to all procedures ensuring food compatibility of its products for price tag applications, as evidenced by the TÜV test results or the ISEGA certification of our print ribbons.
